Written about how it takes roughly 50 years for even the most basic new ideas to be examined and adopted and to surpass the old current truth... like:
- washing your hands between handling cadavers and delivering babies
- consuming lime to prevent scurvy.
- alternative energies
There are new processes, medicines and systems that are coming to light today that have the potential to be our new truths. But many people, leaders and large entities find it is easier or more profitable to themselves to just maintain the status quo and reject, ban and prevent these new ideas from developing before even looking at their potential benefit to mankind.
'All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.'
Arthur Schopenhauer
lyrics
We tested, inspected and trialed and analysed
no one wanted to hear
and questioned the best you could say at the time
no one wanted to hear
the evidence collected suggesting it's otherwise
but no one wanted to hear it
they just said that it cant be right
it cant be right
The facts from the fiction were finally recognized
no one wanted to hear
and cracks in the system exposed to the light
no one wanted to hear
an answer so simple it's right in front of them
but no one wanted to hear it
they just said that it cant be right
it cant be right
no one change a thing
cause it's alright
don't stop any machines
yeah it's alright
move on nothing to see here
go right back to sleep
cause it's alright
no excitement please
yeah it's alright
we've got all that you need yeah
just keep living the dream
